What is involved in the PADI Open Water Course?
1. Classroom Work (Theory) – You will learn the basic principles of diving including dive planning, handling underwater pressure, and  equipment assembly. Typically this is done in a classroom setting with a local dive instructor, or online with PADI e-learning.
2. Pool Practice (Confined Water) – During the pool sessions you will learn how to set up your gear, clear your mask of water, breathe with a regulator, recover a dropped regulator and master buoyancy control. This can be done with your local dive shop, or you can do this on-island with Reef Divers (+$200).
3. Open Water Dives – You will complete at least 4 open water dives to showcase your knowledge to your instructor. These dives will have you repeat some of the basic safety skills you learned in the pool (like mask clearing and buoyancy checks) and perform underwater navigation. Reef Divers will cover this for FREE and process your certification with PADI.
 
 
Important Details
  • Must be 10+ years to be eligible for training. Participants aged 10 – 15 are required to be instructed under a 1:1 ratio. Participants aged 16 and over will be instructed under standard 1:4 ratio.
  • Theory portion of certification must be completed in advance, it is recommended that theory and confined water is completed in advance with your local dive shop.
  • Fees for PADI e-Learning, and/or local theory and confined water is not included.
  • Divers must be in good health, completion of a confidential medical statement and doctor’s clearance to dive may be required.
  • Offer valid on new bookings only. Cannot be combined with other offers. No refunds for any unused portions of package.
  • Must book by July 15 2026.
  • Valid with Cayman Escape or Classic Cayman packages only.
  • Course dates are subject to availability. Offer may be capacity controlled.

Support Your Local Dive Shop

Contact your local dive shop to complete the theory and confined water portion of the course in advance of your trip. The benefits of going local:

Upon arrival to the resort, your certification will take 2.5 – 3 days. After certification you can put your new skills to practice with more dives.

Complete e-Learning & pool session with Reef Divers

If you do not have a dive shop close by, you can complete the classroom online with PADI e-Learning. The course is self-paced, however, typically takes 10-15 hours. e-Learning fees are payable to PADI upon registration.

Upon arrival to the resort, the certification will take 3.5 – 4 days. Confined water portion of the course with Reef Divers is $200.
